We continue to grow

It’s been quite a year. I am delighted to see the continued growth of the Belvoir Cricket & Countryside Trust and to offer my support to the exciting plans to develop the pavilion at the Knipton cricket ground. I firmly believe that you can’t stand still in life and the ideas that Darren and the team have to continue to grow the Trust are very exciting.

I also can’t quite believe that the Trust is 10 years old this year. Where has that time gone? From humble beginnings it’s a great testament to the team and the Trustees that the numbers have now reached well over 20,000 children in that time.

We had a few firsts this year, most notably having the Maasai Warriors here in August. The colours of their national dress bought some wonderful energy to the cricket and the afterdinner celebration dance in the Guards Room will never be forgotten.

Also, we follow with interest our ambassador Graeme Swann as he battles away on the ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ stage. Knowing Swanny he won’t be shy of strutting his stuff.

Children in this country continue to face challenges, including a lack of sport and outside education so the work of the Trust is ever important.

Well done everyone and good luck in 2019.
